Restored Trouble Lamp 1
In April 2019 while Linda and I were in Canberra for the folk festival, we ventured out through The Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra, and by chance, I came across a seller whom had a unique and beautiful old trouble light.
This lamp features a beautiful and unique style timber handle, and not widely seen. So much was the lamp sought after by passers-by that I even had a request if I would sell the piece as is.
Since April 2019, I have had this lamp hanging in our decked room, with the plan to eventually restore the lamp and fully replace the older wiring and plug.
The work would see the timber handle stripped and sanded back, then several coats of stain and oil reapplied to maintain a beautiful aged look. The custom cage was brushed clean, and lightly painted with some black paint and brushed back to reveal some 'wear'.
The Lamp holder was inspected and cleaned prior to rewiring. A brass cable grip was added together with a twisted brown fabric covered cable and finally, an Edison style Filament globe installed complete the piece.
The lamp completed and relit on 15th July 2020.
