Organic Series II
2019 had been a relatively quiet year with respect to lamp making, however we ended the year with a special project, a set of bedside lamps for my sister and brother-in-law as a Christmas gift.
Following on from our first Organic Series lamp, The Organic Series 2 are inspired by the organic textures of hollowed timber log cross-sections, giving a very rustic and unique result.
Work on the timber sections commenced in July 2019. Most of the work focused on a great deal of sanding and smoothing out of the surfaced.
With two lamps to me created, this was a great deal of work in hand-sanding of the pieces.
A hole was drilled to allow the cable to pass. A cable retention clamp was installed under the brass dome / lamp holder mount.
The wood was stained to increase depth and tonality and then sealed with several coats of Scandinavian oil, and a final application of beeswax.
The lamps feature full brass E27 lamp holders, our signature burgundy fabric cable and the warmth of incandescent lamps.
