The Creative Journey

Hand-held trouble lights, also known as inspection lights, are not a novel idea. Such work lamps are a ubiquitous tool in a workshop setting.

Typically, many modern trouble lights use plastic components, however, as our design influence is driven by an artistic element and style, we craft these lamps with a decorative intent.

Our Design Style

Our first trouble lamp had been conceived when we found an old trouble lamp where the only salvageable component was the cage.

While wondering through Wombat In Thirroul, we found a number of wooden tool handles, the diameter was sufficient, with clearance to be able to bore a 10mm hole to allow a 10mm allthread tube to be inserted.

The handle was cleaned, sanded and a stain applied to give a deeper, aged finish and a final coat of beeswax applied.

The lamp caged was cleaned and give a coat of "Oil Rubbed Bronze" paint and then a final clear coat.

Finally, we installed our high-quality brass hardware, brown cloth-covered wire and inline switch and installed and LED globe.

The first trouble light was completed and first lit on 1st November 2017.

The trouble lamp design would go on to create a product line that we now have available for custom orders.
